Rapid Response for California Recall Election

The stakes couldn’t be higher for this California gubernatorial recall election. If Governor Newsom is recalled, it will reverse so much of the progress California has made.

This is why WDN Action stepped into rapid-response mode and moved $100K in rapid-response funding to Million Voters Project Action Fund and California Calls Action Fund to mobilize and activate voters of color in the California recall election on September 14th.

The Million Voters Project Action Fund has reported back that their work is making a difference. Thus far, Million Voters Project has:

  • Activated 150,000 voters who will vote no on the recall,

  • Recruited over 350+ paid canvassers that are knocking on doors in every region in the state,

  • Conducted outreach in 5 languages (Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, and English),

  • Engaged 100s of volunteers, and

  • Reached 700,000 voters through emails and text messages

These organizations are able to step up at this critical moment because they have long been investing in community power. Building off their work from past years, they have continued strengthening multicultural, intergenerational, and cross-regional coalitions to reach voters who are low-income, Black, Indigenous, Asian, immigrant, new, infrequent, or young. Their organizing will make the difference in this election and beyond.
